A
Bachelor's degree in interpretation is now available
in the New
York
City metropolitan area. By special arrangement
with the State
University of New York - Empire State College (SUNY-ESC),
after a comprehensive
faculty review to allocate upper division credits
to the courses,
students can now take the ASL/English Interpretation
Program at LaGuardia
Community College as the Concentration (Major)
in their BA program.
Graduates will receive a BA degree from SUNY-ESC.
Applicants must pass an Admission Screening process
for acceptance into
the LaGuardia ASL/English Interpretation Program*
in order to declare
this as their Concentration. Once accepted into
the interpretation
program, an ESC Mentor will work with each applicant
to design a Bachelor's
degree program, including the SUNY core requirements,
the Concentration
and other courses that fulfill the BA degree requirements.
LaGuardia's nationally recognized program offers
a rigorous, two-year
academic curriculum. A new, state-of-the-art interpreting
lab offers
full access to multi-media technology to assist
students in developing
their skills and knowledge.
An Articulation Agreement between the two colleges
means that the
LaGuardia AA degree program in Liberal Arts: Deaf
Studies is accepted in
satisfaction of all SUNY-ESC Lower Division course
requirements.
Applicants who have college credits from other
institutions may have them
reviewed for Advanced Standing.
